If you are a Webmail user, you may be familiar with the SquirrelMail option when you check your emails via cPanel. While this has been a stable and popular Webmail choice for many users for a number of years, it is no longer available in cPanel with the newest security release.

While it is possible to manually keep SquirrelMail installed and running on our servers, we have made the decision to not go down this route as it will inevitably lead to security issues and risk. For more information on why SquirrelMail will no longer be offered through cPanel, please visit the official cPanel post on the matter.

Thankfully, cPanel continues to offer 2 more Webmail options – Roundcube and Horde. They provide the same functionality as SquirrelMail, and are often considered more modern and ‘better’ than SquirrelMail. Using either Horde or Roundcube will keep all your existing emails, so you will not lose any mail by changing.

If you had an address book set up within SquirrelMail, you will no longer be able to access this (via SquirrelMail). Please visit our knowledgebase article for instructions on how you can import this address book into Horde Mail.
