To set up an email account in the email client Thunderbird, please see the following steps.
In Thunderbird, click on Tools > Account settings > Account Actions > Add mail account

  • Your Name: [your name]
  • Email address: [full email address]
  • Password: [email account password]

Click IMAP or POP and then Manual Config.
If selecting POP3:

  • Incoming: mail.yourdomain.ie (replacing ‘yourdomain.ie’ with your actual domain name)
  • Incoming Port: 110
  • Outgoing: mail.yourdomain.ie (replacing ‘yourdomain.ie’ with your actual domain name)
  • Outgoing Port:  25
  • SSL: None
  • Authentication: Normal Password (both Incoming + Outgoing)
  • Username: [full email address]

Or, if selecting IMAP:

  • Incoming: mail.yourdomain.ie (replacing ‘yourdomain.ie’ with your actual domain name)
  • Incoming Port: 143
  • Outgoing: mail.yourdomain.ie (replacing ‘yourdomain.ie’ with your actual domain name)
  • Outgoing Port:  25
  • SSL: none
  • Authentication: Normal Password (both Incoming + Outgoing)
  • Username: [full email address]

Click Test and then Create Account
